Ross Clark teaches education and literature and writing part-time in Brisbane, and spends too many of his remaining hours writing poetry and songs, and endeavouring to play folken-country-blues on guitar. He also lurks at the edge of a ukulele band, playing bass ukulele. His first poetry volume was published in 1982, his most recent (Salt Flung into the Sky) in 2008. Awarded a Centenary of Federation Medal, he was also short-listed for the ABR Poetry prize in 2007, and won it in 2008. He has been published in Best Australian Poems and Best Australian Poetry (from rival publishers), and also on the streets of his town.
