2009

In 2009 the National Jazz Writing Competition targets the essay!

Submission guidelines: see our How to enter page.

What to submit: The essay, for our purposes, is a piece of prose of 1000 to 3000 words in length.  The essay must be on an aspect of jazz or improvised music in Australia. Don’t submit fiction please! (If you have some short fiction on this theme, you’d be most welcome to submit it to extempore for possible publication).

Please note: We will be looking for good writing that adheres to the theme. Your entry should have both these attributes or it will not even make it to the shortlist.
